IIITM-Kerala Extends PG Online Entrance Registration Deadline To July 7; Test On July 25

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) has extended the last date for online registration for its PG entrance examinations to July 7.

The last date of applying for the entrance test of MSc and MPhil courses has been extended due to the grave situation arising out of COVID-19 pandemic.

IIITM-K has invited applications for three courses: MSc in Computer Science, besides MPhils in Computer Science and Ecological Informatics. The MSc Computer Science offers specialisations in Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Machine Intelligence and Geospatial Analytics.

For further details, aspirants are advised to visit www.iiitmk.ac.in/admission.

The online test is slated for July 25. Admit cards will be issued online on July 20. The results of the entrance exam will be announced on August 3.

Classes for the new batch are expected to commence in September second week.

The institute will be conducting the tests by exploring the possibility of conducting a proctored test owing to the constraints imposed by COVID-19.

The “proctored” feature mandates the candidate to install the software to enable verification of one’s identity by taking a webcam photo of the face, photo ID and use of a webcam to scan the desk and the room where one takes the exam. The data recorded by the software is then transferred to a proctoring service for review. The candidates can take the test using desktop, laptop, tabs or smartphones.

The restrictions clamped across the country to counter the spread of coronavirus have led IIITM-K to explore the possibility of conducting online proctored entrance exams. The test, which enables candidates to take it from homes, is backed by intelligent remote-monitoring, according to authorities at the autonomous institution.
