The course will be offered at three levels — foundation, diploma, and degree. The levels need to be completed in one, two, and three years, respectively. The course is being offered with help from the Ministry of Human Resource Development help. The course fee will be Rs 3,000.

“The demand for programming and data science is increasing in India and the world at large. It will contribute immensely to the industrial development in the future. Our step will offer a good chance to the students and benefit the Indian industry also. We will be able to offer high-quality education to people across India,” IIT-M Director Professor Bhaskar Ramamurti was quoted as saying by IANS.

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal launched the IIT-M course digitally. “Since it is quite difficult to take admissions in IITs due to the limited number of seats in regular courses, this online course will help provide quality education to the students,” Pokhriyal said.
