Kharagpur’s St Agnes School Provides Ration Kits, Masks, Sanitisers To 1000 Less Privileged Households
Kharagpur: Apart from setting benchmarks in imparting quality education in a small town like Kharagpur, St Agnes School here has also been in the frontline when it comes to doing charitable work.
At a time when the less fortunate are struggling to arrange meals for their families amidst the lockdown, St Agnes School, run by the Apostolic Carmel sisters, has stepped forward to supply ration kits, sanitisers and masks to more than 1000 poor families in the town.
Under the guidance of the school Principal Sr Sarita Menenzes, the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff along with the other AC sisters distributed ration kits, sanitisers and masks to the underprivileged families residing in the Kharpal village on Friday.
The ration kits comprised of 4 kg of rice, 2 kg of dal, 2 kg of potatoes, 1 kg onions along with masks and hand sanitisers.
On Saturday, the school handed over nearly 250 similar kits to the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Kharagpur for distributing it among the needy.
Besides this, the school team will also be distributing ration kits, masks and sanitisers to the underprivileged families living in the outhouses here. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the school has donated their two-day salary for amassing funds for this noble deed.
The school has already started conducting online classes for the academic session 2020-2021.
