36% Indian Employees Suffer From Mental Health Issues: Survey

Bhubaneswar: Around 36 per cent of Indian employees are suffering from mental health issues due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to a survey by The7thFold. Besides, 50 per cent of employees are tense about their uncertain future, the survey added.

“It is a well-known fact that physical and mental wellbeing are correlated, and one cannot be managed at the expense of the other. The work from home concept due to COVID-19 was literally adopted overnight by employers creating a whole new set of challenges for all stakeholders,” said The7thFold Founder and Chief Executive, Hamsaz Wadhwani, reported India Today.

Self/Family Physical Health (32%), Work task and deadlines (31%), Self / Family Mental Health (25%), Performance Appraisal (22%), Social distancing/isolation (18%), Relationship issues (17%), Being laid off (16%) and Children’s Education (13%) are the other stress factors for Indian employees.

The survey was conducted in July and August with 509 respondents from diverse sectors in metro cities and was aimed to recognise stress faced by employees during a pandemic.
