Bhubaneswar: Four students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal received Rs 25,000 each as scholarship at the Odisha Chapter of IIMC Alumni Association’s annual meet “Connections 2020” on Saturday.
Each recipient got a certificate of appreciation along with the scholarship amount.
Sonali Ojha, student of Odia Journalism, received the Sanjukta-Saudamini Memorial IIMCAA Scholarship, while Aarti Behera received the IIMCAA Scholarship (Girl) by an alumni who wishes to remain unnamed.
English Journalism student Prachi Rathi received the STS Thirumalainathan – Ponnammal Memorial IIMCAA Scholarship, while Abhisekh Sharma received the Maha Periyava Swami Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Memorial IIMCAA Scholarship.
IIMC Dhenakanal’s 2013-14 batch student Kishan Barai, on the occasion, was conferred with Special Jury Award for his outstanding contribution in development journalism, .
IIMC Dhenakanal’s 2019-20 batch student Prachi Rathi was presented with Prof K M Shrivastava Memorial Award, Anuradha Barik with Prof Chintamani Mohapatra Memorial Award and Ankita Samal with Prof B B Mohanty Memorial Award, report regional media organisations.
Gracing the event as Chief Guest, regional director of IIMC Dhenkanal, Dr Mrinal Chatterjee, advised the students to remain in contact with the institution after completing their studies which will not only establish a good relationship but students can also learn about different aspects of journalism.
The alumni meet was also attended by veteran journalist S Sudarsan from Business Standard, IIMC Alumni Association’s organisation secretary Ritesh Verma, IIMC Alumni Association – Odisha Chapter’s president Sanjay Sahoo and IIMC Dhenkanal’s Assistant Professor Sambit Pal.
