5-T Initiative: 65 High Schools In Odisha To Get Facelift

Jajpur: A total of 65 high schools in 10 blocks along with the district’s two urban local bodies are set to get a facelift by October 2021.

The renovation work has been taken under the state government’s high school transformation project 5-T initiative. The project will cost Rs 39 crore sanctioned from the Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) funds.

“We have identified 65 high schools in the first phase and work has already begun. We are aiming to complete it before October 31,” Jajpur Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.

These high schools will be operational from November 14 to commemorate Children’s Day this year.

According to the Collector, an estimated Rs 60 lakh will be used in renovating each high school. The educational development of the schools will utilise 20 per cent of the sanctioned fund. The project is expected to benefit more than 27,000 students.
