75% Students In West Bengal Skipped JEE Mains on Day One: Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata: A total of 75 per cent students in West Bengal could not appear for JEE Mains on Tuesday due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The West Bengal CM said that the government had made all the arrangements and ensured safety measures for the students, but only 1,167 out of 4,654 students could appear on the first day of examination.

“The students are in great trouble. They were not able to attempt the JEE examinations. In other states, more than 50 per cent of the students were not able to appear for it because of the pandemic situation,” Mamata Banerjee told reporters here.

Mamata had earlier requested the central government to postpone the JEE Mains in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
