Dehradun: Amid Coronavirus scare among students, Trivendra Singh Rawat-led Uttarakhand government is running special buses for students who are appearing for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) that started on Tuesday.
Two buses each are running in the 13 districts and the government can increase the number if needed. This year 13,000 candidates are appearing for the JEE exam in Uttarakhand.
According to Hindustan Times, general manager of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, Deepak Jain said, “From Tuesday till next Monday, special buses will be operated only for students so that they are able to reach the exam centers easily. Two buses have been started in every district as of now, which have a passenger capacity of 20 students in one trip with the normal fare being charged at present. The buses will run from district headquarters till the exam centers.”
The move came for the safety and security of JEE aspirants as the government on Monday evening distributed official letters to all district magistrates asking them to ensure that no student faces any hurdle in reaching the examination centres.
Madan Kaushik, Cabinet Minister and state government spokesperson was quoted as saying by HT, “We have asked the district administration to ensure that the exams are conducted in a smooth manner. All possible help including travel and lodging will be given to students and parents. The exams will be conducted following all the guidelines and safety of students is the first priority.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had already instructed all the district magistrates to take necessary measures and follow coronavirus guidelines during the JEE & NEET examinations.
