Schools In Kerala Not To Reopen In September-October: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has decided against reopening of schools in September-October in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state and beyond.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ruled out the possibility of reopening schools anytime soon.

“In the given situation, it’s not possible to open educational institutions (schools) either in September or October. This is also the thinking of the Centre,” the chief minister said during a media interaction on Monday.

According to Central Government’s Unlock 4.0 guidelines, educational institutions including schools are allowed to reopen for higher classes i.e. from ninth standard and above. Students in higher classes can visit school premises for guidance only in different slots from September 21.

However, Kerala is cautious and unlikely to follow this guideline.
