MHRD Announces Internship Programme For Undergraduates

Interns to work with senior ministry officials in policy formulation

New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) has announced an internship programme for undergraduate students, who will be paid a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month and a certificate.

Selected students will be associated with the Ministry in the formulation of policies and implementation of education-related projects. They will share space with senior ministry officials and work in a particular bureau as per their choice. The HRD Ministry comprises the School and Mass Education Department and the Higher Education Department.

According to the scheme guidelines, while the interns will benefit from the exposure to the government functioning and policy issues, the Ministry will also benefit from the additional resources in the form of young talent and their new ideas.

Who are eligible to apply?

  • Undergraduate students and those doing integrated PG programme from across disciplines.
  • Students from institutions of national importance.
  • Students from technical institutes provided their institutes are among the top 50 in the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF).
  • Students of law whose institutes are among the top 10 in NIRF.
  • Students from the top 50 universities in NIRF.
  • Students from foreign institutes figuring in the QS top 100 2019.

Duration:
The internship will range from 2-6 months. The programme will be offered twice a year — Nov-Dec and April-May.

The number of interns will be confined to 15.

They are expected to submit a report at the end of the assignment to the concerned bureau head and share their learning experience.
