Bengaluru: The Karnataka government is planning to re-open colleges next month with adherence to the Central government guidelines for the safety of students, teachers and staff amidst the pandemic.
The Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan informed this after the centenary convocation of University of Mysore on Monday.
“The government is preparing to start offline graduate classes from November. A decision in this regard will be taken soon after discussing it with Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and other officials concerned,” Narayan was quoted as saying by City Today.
Acknowledging the challenges of the decision, he said, “We have to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The virus is very much amidst us.”
On the success of online classes, the deputy CM said that digital education in the state has exceeded his expectations, and urged the students to take full advantage of it.
He also mentioned that the state government was preparing to apply the provisions of NEP 2020 in stages. “The task force constituted to recommend the implementation of NEP has already submitted its first report. The new education policy will be implemented in a phased manner by 2021 after making all the arrangements,” he added.
