IIT Kanpur To Set Up Centre For ‘Engineering In Medicine’
IIT Kanpur will come up with a new research centre for ‘engineering in medicine’ to develop new field and techniques that will shape the healthcare sector in the 21st century.
The centre will be set up in association with the US-based Mehta Family Foundation, said a statement issued by the institute. It will be known as the ‘The Mehta Family Centre for Engineering in Medicine’ on commencement of operation.
As per an MoU signed between the two entities, the centre will focus on:
Regenerative Medicine
Molecular Medicine
Digital Medicine
Professor Shankar Subramaniam of the University of California, San Diego will be the first international advisor to the centre.
IIT Kanpur had earlier announced to set up a state-of-art hospital and start MBBS programme from the coming academic session.
