Here’s How Govt School Teachers Reach Out To Students Amid COVID Crisis In Rajasthan

New Delhi: With schools shut for months due to the raging second wave of the COVID-19, teachers in Rajasthan’s Barmer took extra efforts to ensure education to all.

In a surprising move, teachers are travelling by camel to reach the students’ doorsteps in desert areas or who have limited access to mobile networks to impart education.

According to the schedule, these teachers would ride thrice a day to reach their schools in the Barmer district.

“Out of 75 lakh students, many do not have mobile phones. So the state government decided that teachers will go to their homes once a week for class I-VIII, and twice a week for class IX-XII,” Director of Rajasthan Education Department, Saurav Swami was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, the school administration too lauded the teachers’ efforts. “A few teachers are really working hard to ensure students get regular notes on time. A few of them are Muknaram Dhaka, Biharilal Dhaka and Birmaram Bana. We have selected 100 students to be reached,” Principal of Government Higher Senior School, Bhimthal, Room Singh Jakhar said.

“I salute and thank this team of teachers. This should be continued further,” said Jakhar.
