DU Invites Suggestions To Make Admission Process Student-Friendly
Students Can Post Their Views Online Until January 5, 2020
New Delhi: The University of Delhi, which attracts students from across the country for higher studies, has invited suggestions from stakeholders for bringing reforms in its admission process from the next academic session.
The admission branch has activated a link on its official website du.ac.in headlined ‘Suggestions for strengthening DU Admissions 2020-21’.
The link says that the inputs and suggestions will help the university make the admission process more student-friendly and rigorous for the academic year 2020-21.
During the 2019-20 academic session, DU had received more than 2.5 lakh registrations for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The university has 90 colleges, 16 faculties, 87 departments and 13 centres affiliated.
The suggestions sought are:
- How to maintain parity in eligibility criteria for admissions at the undergraduate level
- How to rationalise the cutoffs for merit-based admissions to control over/under admissions.
- Minimising students’ visits to Colleges for document verification.
- Developing a single admission form in order to reduce multiple filling of admission forms at the time of admissions
- Making admissions for the candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other quotas easier.
- Closing the admissions by the beginning of the academic session so as to minimise the academic loss of the students.
