Bhubaneswar: Projects worth Rs 15.18 crore have been approved by the state government’s ambitious programme ‘Mo School Abhiyan’.
The approval was accorded at the 29th executive council meeting of ‘Mo School Abhiyan’, chaired by Satyabrata Sahu, principal secretary, School and Mass Education department on Saturday. The fund has been approved for 1146 schools in 24 districts.
It was revealed at the meeting that 14,000 alumni have joined the Abhiyan in a month and donated Rs 15.18 crore for the development of their respective schools. A total of 6,06,908 alumni have joined the Abhiyan so far.
The alumni have contributed Rs 1.14 crore in Balasore, Rs 55.98 lakh in Sonepur, Rs 32.16 lakh in Cuttack, Rs 30.41 lakh in Jajpur and Rs 20.47 lakh in Mayurbhanj districts.
Under the 5T High School Transformation Programme, a CSR grant of Rs 333.4 crore has been received for 2,222 schools. The executive council of the Abhiyan has sanctioned its contribution of double the donation.
Sahu directed the officials to make field monitoring and social audits to maintain transparency in the ongoing works. Special teams will be mobilised to amplify the audit process, he added.
It was also revealed at the meeting that Mo School in collaboration with ‘Pratham’ and ‘Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti’ has been organising learning camps in 1025 schools since October 2. The camps aim at fostering the interest of children in learning. These camps will be organised in 3975 schools from November 14.
