New Delhi: Two Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Delhi) students were conferred with Neilom Prize for 2020-21 for their significant role in the space of assistive technology to empower people with disabilities.
The award is given every year to the best outgoing students of the prestigious institute. This year, Richa Gupta and Girish Yadav were picked for the award.
IIT-Delhi said that Dr Gupta’s doctoral research at the institute throws light on the idea of novel design strategies that can aid the retention of tactually acquired graphical information, reported Careers360.
Dr Gupta is serving as an Assistant Professor in human centered design at the IIT-Delhi.
Girish Yadav is a graduate in Production and Industrial Engineering and a co-founder of Flexmo, an assistive technology product design and manufacturing company. Yadav designed multiple assistive technology devices, including Flexmo Crutches, Transito Sit-Stand Device and elderly canes and walkers.
“Successive generation of students and research staff who have worked in this space with passion and commitment are responsible for whatever success ASSISTECH has got in the last 15 years of its existence. We are thankful to Prof. Anand for establishing the Neilom prize, which recognises the work done by these young graduates,” Founder, Assistech Laboratory, IIT-Delhi, Prof M. Balakrishnan, was quoted as saying by Careers360.

Neilom Foundation, Maryland, USA instituted the prize to inspire and empower Neilom Fellows to become tomorrow’s leaders.
