Calcutta University Goes Online With Semester Exams

Kolkata: Due to the threat posed by the Omicron variant of COVID-19 across the country, Calcutta University took a call to conduct the examinations of the first, third and fifth semesters of the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in online mode in January and February.

According to Calcutta University Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakrabarty Banerjee, as the new variant of COVID-19 has emerged, the syndicate at a meeting decided to conduct the tests in digital mode at present, reported news agency PTI.

Classes have commenced at UG and PG levels in over 150 affiliated colleges and on the university campus respectively. The classes are being held on alternate dates, both in offline and online modes. The VC informed that the exams of the third and fifth semesters at UG-level and the third semester at PG-level will be conducted in January.

The first-semester exam for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be conducted in February, the vice-chancellor said.

Like last year, the varsity will mail soft copies of the question papers to the affiliated colleges on the examination days apart from uploading the same on its website.

Students need to write the answers on their smart devices and mail them to a designated address. The students can also download the question papers, write the answers on papers, scan the answer sheets and mail them in PDF format.
