New Delhi: Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to the youth to be entrepreneurs and create livelihood for the people.
The minister said this while virtually addressing the students and staff of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur during its 12th annual convocation from New Delhi.
The institute awarded a total of 1,057 degree certificates during the convocation. Meritorious students were honoured for their academic achievements during the convocation.
Charu Sehgal of BTech in Electrical Engineering was chosen for the Director Medal for her achievements as the best all-rounder student for 2021, reported news agency PTI.
As many as 36 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals were awarded to meritorious students for their outstanding performance and distinguished achievements in various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the agency report said.
Pradhan congratulated the students and praised the NIT Hamirpur for its good job on the education, research and development front.
“It is impressive to know that as the regional coordinating institute of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan programme, the institute is one of the 27 participating institutes across the state. It has adopted a number of villages to promote sustainable development, means of livelihood among the initiatives using local resources,” Pradhan was quoted as saying by the agency.
Six NIT Hamirpur faculty members have been ranked among the world’s top two per cent scientists in their respective areas by the report released by Stanford University, Pradhan pointed out.
