CU Denver To Open First Campus In India, Admissions From August 2027
The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) has received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a degree‑granting campus in Hyderabad, with admissions for the first cohort scheduled for August 2027.
The new campus will mark CU Denver’s first academic outlet in India and the first foreign university campus in Telangana. It will initially offer programmes in business, computing, engineering and analytics, with additional courses proposed from the second year onwards.
CU Denver said the academic model will blend subject‑based learning with practical and experiential training, ensuring students gain both disciplinary knowledge and workplace‑ready skills. The campus will also emphasise interdisciplinary learning, encouraging students to apply problem‑solving approaches across diverse subject areas.
Programmes will be designed with a strong career focus, aligning curricula with workforce requirements. Students will remain connected to CU Denver’s academic ecosystem in the United States, benefitting from its global faculty and research networks.
Founded in 1973, CU Denver is governed by the University of Colorado Board of Regents. It currently serves 14,000 students and has a network of more than 100,000 alumni across 100 countries. The institution is classified as an R1 research university by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education, denoting very high research activity.
The Hyderabad campus is being developed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on multidisciplinary education, internationalisation, learner outcomes and career readiness. CU Denver will continue regulatory processes and collaborate with academic and industry stakeholders as the project advances.
