Four Indian business schools featured in the top 25 of the Financial Times’ 2026 global ranking for teaching case impact. The ranking measures how business schools’ case studies are used in classrooms and reach students and organisations worldwide.

IIM Bangalore ranked 11th globally, making it the highest-ranked Indian institute in the category. SPJIMR secured 15th place, MDI Gurgaon ranked 18th and IMT Ghaziabad stood at 25th.

Teaching cases are based on real business situations and challenges. They help students understand management decisions involving areas such as strategy, marketing, finance, operations and leadership.

According to IIM Bangalore, around 680 higher education institutions across nearly 50 countries used its teaching cases during 2024 and 2025. Its users included academic institutions, faculty members, students, companies and professionals.

The institute published 26 cases through Harvard Business Impact in both 2024 and 2025. Sales increased from 140,457 in 2024 to 184,879 in 2025, registering a rise of nearly 32%.

Among its popular cases were “redBus: Art and Science of Product Management”, “Testing Marketing Hypotheses at WSES” and “Customer Analytics at Bigbasket – Product Recommendations”. Other cases covered digital transformation in healthcare, employee engagement, human resource analytics and generative AI.

How FT Assesses Teaching Case Impact

The Financial Times’ 2026 research-impact assessment examines how academic work influences business practices and public policy. It covers four areas: practitioner publications, policy impact, external grant funding and teaching cases.

For the teaching case category, the Financial Times combined data from five international case distributors: Case Centre at CEIBS, Harvard Business Impact, IESE Publishing, Ivey Publishing and The Case Centre.
