Delhi High Court Seeks Delhi University’s Response On Plea Challenging Open Book Exams
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Delhi University seeking its response on a plea challenging its decision to conduct online open book exams this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The court will further hear the matter on June 18.
The petition of three students from economically challenged backgrounds argued that the new exam format will be a disadvantage to the students who are financially distressed and lack the support of intelligent parents, friends, gadgets and search engines.
“There is no way to find out who was cheating when open book online exams are held. Moreover, lack of proper internet connectivity and electricity would affect the performance of the poor students hailing from rural areas,” the petition read.
Besides, the students suggested that the university withdraw its decision to conduct the open book exams and promote final-year students on the basis of average of marks obtained in previous years and internal assessment..
