Bhubaneswar: Eminent academician from University of Kansas, USA, Prof. Rajendra P. Srivastava was chief panellist at the international panel discussion on ‘Accounting Practices & Audit Failures: Effect on Public Trust’, which was organized by D.A.V. School of Business Management and conducted online on Friday.
Prof. Ranjan K. Bal, former Chairman, P.G. Council of Utkal University, and CFO, Adventz Group, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, CA Sailesh Pati were the other panel members.
Prof. Srivastava provided insights into flaws and measures in audit management in the US and India, focussing on three mechanisms — incentives, opportunities and mindset (ethics).
Prof. Bal spoke on the paradigm shift from teacher-centric approach to a learner-centric approach in accounting standards and practices while CA Pati stressed on independency in audit committee’s control to ensure truthfulness and fairness in financial statements.
A ‘knowledge sharing session’ was conducted after the discussion, in which the panellists responded to viewers’ questions.
DSBM Principal Dr D.N. Mishra moderated the discussion and Lecturer in English & Soft Skills Anshuman Mohanty coordinated the entire event.
