IIMC To Skip Entrance Test; Direct Admission On Marks Basis This Year
New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) announced it admission procedure for all the postgraduate diploma courses for the academic year 2020-21.
On July 28, the administration released an official notification that said the institute will not be conducting any entrance test due to the growing seriousness of coronavirus situation in the country. “Accordingly, instead of the traditional mode of entrance test, that IIMC has been resorting to in the past, it has been decided to adopt an admission process for all the courses this year, in which more weightage is given to the marks scored by candidates in qualifying examinations, up to Graduation level, including Intermediate and Matriculation examinations, followed by an online interview to be conducted by IIMC. Accordingly, there will be no entrance test for any of the courses in IIMC, this year,” the notification read.
Earlier on July 3, 2020, IIMC had released a notification regarding admission to its regional campuses for language journalism courses. However, the new guidelines supersede them. “Accordingly, the process mentioned earlier stands revised and the notifications in this regard, along with the revised prospectus and application forms can be seen on the website,” the notification further clarified.
The institute is expected to release a detailed notice along with the prospectus and application form on Thursday, July 30. The prospective candidates now need to write or send a video telling why they want to pursue the course. These procedures are only one-time measures due to the ruckus created by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
