New Delhi: The AAP government informed the High Court on Tuesday that it intends to release the amounts for two quarters of the 2020-21 financial year to aid two Delhi University (DU) colleges to pay staff salaries, reported The Indian Express.
The two colleges in question to receive the grant-in-aid are Maharshi Valmiki College of Education and Keshav Mahavidyalaya.
The Delhi Government, in a hearing on November 4, had been directed by the division bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad to release the remaining amounts of two quarters to four Delhi University colleges for the payment of staff salaries.
This ruling came in response to the plea claiming non-payment of salaries and emoluments for the last five months to teaching and non-teaching staff of certain Delhi University colleges.
Jawahar Raja, the additional standing counsel for Delhi government, told Justice Jyoti Singh on Tuesday that grant in aid will be released to the above-mentioned colleges. The grant will be for the two quarters of this financial year will enable them to pay their staff in accordance with HC’s November 4 directions regarding a similar matter.
