Cuttack: The infrastructure of Odisha’s oldest institute for legal studies, Madhusudan Law University, will be upgraded soon. It was accorded the university status by the state government recently.
Varsity Principal Sukanta Kumar Nanda stated that the renovation work will begin from the third week of March and will be completed by this June.
According to reports, the law varsity will get a library at a cost of Rs 1 crore, academic and administrative blocks at an expense of Rs 2 crore. Besides, Rs 1 crore will be spent on providing decent hostel facilities for students.
Speaking about the upgradation work, a former law student said, “The University does not have a hostel for girl students. The girls of the college are staying in private hostels by spending huge amount of money. The authorities have not repaired the boys’ hostel for the past several years.”
The decision for upgrading the infrastructure was taken following at a meeting held by the Higher Education Department. A budget of Rs 4 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation work.
