HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned 2,260 new special education teacher posts to provide dedicated educational support to students with intellectual disabilities, including autism.

The newly established posts include 1,136 Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts and 1,124 School Assistant roles, as outlined in a Government Order (GO).

These posts will be filled through the District Selection Committee (DSC), ensuring a structured and merit-based recruitment process.

At the primary education level, the government has allocated 1,136 SGT (Special Education) posts. The distribution of these positions is concentrated in certain districts, with Guntur receiving the highest allocation of 151 posts, followed by 127 posts in East Godavari, 117 in Chittoor, 110 in Kurnool, and 101 posts in Anantapur.

These allocations highlight the government’s recognition of the varying educational demands across regions and its commitment to providing equitable educational opportunities for all students.

The structured allocation aims to improve primary education by integrating specialised strategies for students with intellectual disabilities.

At the secondary level, there is a total requirement for 1,984 School Assistant (Special Education) posts.

The government’s directive underscores the growing demand for specially trained educators who can cater to the unique learning needs of students with disabilities.

The creation of these posts is part of a broader strategy to improve the quality of education and ensure inclusivity.

These roles are specifically designed to support the learning and development of students, ensuring they receive appropriate guidance and resources to achieve their educational goals.

The creation of these posts not only aims to bridge the educational gap for students with intellectual disabilities but also represents a significant investment in the education infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
