Anti-Ragging Week Observed At Bhubaneswar’s SOA

A series of awareness programmes were conducted and competitions organised to foster a ragging-free academic environment.

BHUBANESWAR: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University observed Anti-Ragging Week-2025 from August 12 to 18 across all its constituent institutions and at the university level.

A series of awareness programmes were conducted and competitions organised to foster a ragging-free academic environment.

The week began with Anti-Ragging Day on August 12, when institutional anti-ragging committees and hostel superintendents took pledges, held sensitisation meetings and awareness campaigns.

During the week, students across SOA institutions participated in various competitions including Poster Making, Slogan Writing, staging of ‘Nukkad Natak’, Debate, Quiz, Essay and Rangoli.

The themes highlighted values of respect, dignity and inclusiveness in campus life.

The best two participants in compulsory events from each institution were nominated for the university-level competitions which were held on August 16. These events showcased outstanding creativity, powerful messaging and strong commitment by the students towards ensuring a ragging-free environment.

A prize distribution and felicitation ceremony was held on August 18 in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Deans, Directors, faculty members and students.

Praising the initiatives, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated SOA’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging while stressing the importance of nurturing mutual trust and respect among students.

Faculty Coordinator Dr Anshuman Jena highlighted the collective efforts of the university community in building awareness and promoting unity.

The programmes concluded with a collective message which read – ‘Ragging divides, respect unites. Together, we pledge to uphold respect, dignity and friendship in every corner of SOA University.’
