The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a mandatory certification exam conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) for law graduates.

Candidates who have completed a three-year or five-year LLB degree, or those in their final year without any backlogs, are eligible to appear for the test.

The examination serves as a qualifying assessment that ensures candidates meet the minimum professional standards required to practice law in India.

Passing the AIBE grants an advocate’s certificate of practice, which is essential for appearing in courts and tribunals across the country. As per the BCI notification, the minimum passing percentage has been fixed at 45% for General and OBC candidates, and 40% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates.
