Bhatkande University Vice-Chancellor Shruti Sadolikar Sacked; Know Why

Lucknow: Bhatkhande Music University vice-chancellor, Shruti Sadolikar Katkar’s services were terminated by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on several charges on Monday.

Sadolikar was accused of indiscipline and administrative and financial anomalies. The principal secretary, department of culture, has been instructed by the Governor to initiate criminal and administrative action against her.

The VC was removed from her post in August and an inquiry was set up against her. The Justice (retd) Virendra Kumar Dixit-headed three-member panel submitted its report on December 11, reported news agency IANS.

A week’s time was given to Sadolikar to submit her response but she failed to furnish any reply.

Following Sadolikar’s failure to respond to the Governor’s order, the committee believed that she has accepted the charges.

Sadolikar was found guilty of six points out of total 15-point allegations, including administrative and financial irregularities.

The investigations found that while being the VC, she had repeatedly given work to one firm without tender. These works were undertaken in the financial year 2017-18, for which Sadolikar paid (in parts) Rs 2,17,085. Subsequently, she made payments of Rs 1,44,000 and 2,21,790 to the same firm, according to IANS.

The prominent vocalist from the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, Shruti Sadolikar Katkar was appointed the Bhatkhande Music University vice-chancellor in 2009.
