Bhubaneswar: The new building of the Civil Defence Training Institute was inaugurated on the premises of Odisha Fire And Disaster Response Academy (OFDRA) here on Tuesday.
Director-General of Fire Services, Commandant General Home Guards and Director Civil Defence, Satyajit Mohanty inaugurated the facility which will provide training to Civil Defence volunteers.
Built at a cost of Rs 1.92 crore the building will also be utilised to create awareness among the public through various programmes. It will also provide service to people during disasters.
Presently, a total of 11,527 volunteers have registered at Civil Defence Training Institutes in Khurda, Koraput, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
