Mumbai: The Bombay High Court directed the Maharashtra government to ensure proper online education for specially-abled students, in response to litigation filed by NGO Anamprem, reported The Indian Express.
Before a division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni, the petitioner’s advocate Uday Warunjikar stated how various problems were hindering specially-abled students from receiving education. The problems include the non-availability of staff and mobile facilities. The bench also suggested the use of government channels and radio stations.
Asking the government to devise a solution as per its duty, Chief Justice Datta said, “You (government) can take some slot… for one or two hours… on Doordarshan and show special educational programmes.”
The bench directed the petitioner to submit suggestions to the state government to tackle the issue and asked the government to submit its report by January 18, 2021.
