CA Exams Can’t Be ‘Postponed Or Deferred’, ICAI Tells Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) opposed the cancellation of the ICAI CA exams starting on July 5. The institute said during a Supreme Court hearing that the CA exams cannot be “postponed or deferred” as COVID cases in the country have decreased substantially and it is the right time to conduct the exam for those aspiring to be chartered accountants.

In a note to the apex court, the ICAI said that the CA exams are professional and cannot be compared with board exams like CBSE. According to them, it cannot be deferred or cancelled in the interest of the aspirants.

The apex court will hear the CA aspirants’ plea seeking extra attempt and opt-out option for all examinees on Tuesday, June 29. According to ICAI Lawyer Ramji Srinivasan, a note has been circulated on the stand of the institution. The judges, however, said they did not get it and so have adjourned the case till Tuesday.

CA Final, Inter, IPC and PQC exams are slated to take place from July 5 to July 20, and the CA Foundation exams between July 24 and July 30.
