Candidates Can Withdraw UPSC Civil Services Application Till March 18

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), is now allowing candidates to withdraw their applications submitted for Civil Services preliminary examination  and Indian Forest Service Examinations 2020. The request for generating OTP for withdrawal of application will be accepted only till March 18.

Candidates can visit the official website of UPSC: www.upsc.gov.in for detailed information regarding the withdrawal processCandidates are advised to provide the details of registered application with registration-id which was completed and submitted finally. There is no provision for withdrawing of incomplete applications.

“Before making the request for withdrawal, candidate must ensure the availability of registered mobile number and email-id as provided while submitting the application. Request will be accepted only after the confirmation by validating the OTP details sent on candidate’s mobile and email, such OTP will be valid for 30 minutes. In case the OTP is not received within 10 minutes resend option is also available,” said UPSC in a notification.

Key points to note:

  • Once an application is withdrawn, it cannot be revived at a later stage, under any circumstances.
  • UPSC will not refund candidates on withdrawing applications as there is no provision for that.

On successful completion of withdrawal of application, an auto-generated email and sms will be sent on candidate’s registered email-id and mobile respectively.

By withdrawing application, candidates can save a precious attempt at the civil services exams. Currently, general category candidates can appear for the civil services exams for a maximum of six times or till 32 years of age while the limit for OBC candidates is 9 times or 35 years of age. SC/ST candidates can have unlimited attempts till they reach 37 years.
