New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday released ‘Cyber Safety Manual’ for students of Class IX and XII and advised them not to trust information from unfamiliar websites.
Since the schools have begun online classes amid the coronavirus outbreak, there has been a spike in the number of cases related to cybercrime.
In the handbook, the board has discussed topics such as digital security, digital rights and responsibilities, and digital law.
“Many of them (students) frequently struggle when applying them to research tasks. They can find it difficult to work out whether information on an unfamiliar website is trustworthy, and rely on their chosen search engine’s rankings for their selection of material,” CBSE said in its handbook.
Through the manual, the students will be able to understand about cyber bullying, cyber stalking and accordingly take precautions to avert cybercrimes.
Students can also report bullying, harassment and unlawful activities online at the mentioned contacts in the handbook.
