CBSE Directs NCERT To Develop ‘Joyful Academic Calendar’ For Classes 1 To 12
New Delhi: Keeping in view the online classes during the current lockdown period, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to develop an alternative academic calendar for Classes 1 to 12.
The new academic calendar will aim to attain the learning outcomes via online classes in a joyful manner.
The chairman of the board also stated that the new calendar will also suggest ways to use technology for facilitating teaching-learning methods.
Emphasising on the new trends of e-learning, the board chairman said, “It’s also the time to embrace technology – whether it is Internet based or not. Group video calls, conference calls, simple voice calls can help in effectively communicating with each other.”
The board believes that if the routine calendar is followed to teach students via online platforms, then the results may not be fruitful.
The new curriculum will be shared with the principals of CBSE schools soon.
At the same time, the board has asked parents to make children aware about the ill effects of misusing online platforms.
Advising parents to involve children in household work, the chairman said, “Various places in our homes, especially the kitchens, remain the most underrated and underused place for a child’s cognitive, affective and psychomotor development. The kitchen is perhaps the best lab one has at home.”
