CBSE Plans To Conduct Board Exams Twice A Year From Next Academic Year

In a recent meeting, the CBSE has been instructed to launch Global Curriculum for Foreign Schools in the next academic year.

NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Education has recently held deliberations with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on a proposal of conducting board exams twice a year from the next academic year.

Sharing about the details of the meeting on social media, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the scheme of these deliberations will soon be placed for public consultation by the CBSE.

“This reform is another crucial step towards implementation of key provisions of NEP and will help mitigate exam related stress among students,” Dharmendra Pradhan posted on X.

The Union Ministry of Education has urged the government to launch a Global Curriculum for Foreign Schools for the 2026-27 academic year.

In a meeting chaired by Dharmendra Pradhan, the CBSE was directed to launch the CBSE Global Curriculum for Foreign Schools in the next academic year and prepare a detailed action plan for it.

A high-level meeting was chaired by Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries including Secretary, DoSEL, Secretary ER, MEA, heads of CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS along with representatives of global schools.

“Today the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, chaired a high level meeting with Secretary, DoSEL, Secretary ER, MEA, heads of CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS along with representatives of global schools. The modalities of establishing and implementing the CBSE Global Curriculum were discussed in detail and CBSE was directed to launch CBSE Global Curriculum for Foreign Schools from 2026-2027 and to prepare a detailed action plan accordingly.”

At present, the CBSE board exams for Classes 10 and 12 are conducted in February and March. The CBSE is considering three possible options of conducting the exams in a semester system, with the first board exam in January-February and the second one in March-April or conducting the second set of board exams in June with the supplementary or improvement exams.
