NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched a dedicated mobile app for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) in New Delhi.

The app aims to simplify the application process and provide real-time updates to the candidates registered with it.

The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme was announced in the 2024-25 Union Budget with a target of providing one crore internships in top 500 companies over five years.

A pilot project was launched in October 2024, aiming to offer 1.25 lakh internships to job seekers.

The PMIS app comes with a simple interface, Aadhaar-based face authentication for easy registration, and instant alerts on new opportunities.

Sitharaman emphasised that this scheme would help bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry needs, increasing youth employability. She also encouraged industry participation to build a skilled workforce.
