Bhubaneswar: Private skill university, Centurion University of Technology and Management observed its ninth convocation in the presence of the Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal and Australian High commissioner Barry O’Farrell. As many as 23 scholars have been awarded doctoral degrees and 15 have received gold medals.
The convocation kicked off with the varsity vice-chancellor, Professor Supriya Patnaik presenting the annual report. The vice-chancellor highlighted that the varsity has promoted research among faculty members and has encouraged them to get associated with national and international agencies to work in the areas of research by setting up the 21 research centres.
“Faculty members and research scholars of the university have got unique achievement of publishing high number of research papers in journals and books and they have filed 27 patents and 7 copyrights. To promote entrepreneurship, it has promoted 25 start-ups,” Professor Patnaik was quoted as saying in a press release.
Governor Ganeshi Lal, in his speech, praised the university for its attempt to promote skill-based education and he appreciated the efforts of the university to remain responsible towards society.
Among other dignitaries, the president of the university, Professor Mukti Kanta Mishra; vice-president, Prof DN Rao; Registrar Professor Anita Patra; and Dean academics Professor Prashant Kumar Mohanty graced the occasion.
Among others, faculty members, students and staff were also present in the convocation ceremony.
