Centurion University Hosts Seminar On Emerging Trends In Legal Studies And Practices

BHUBANESWAR: The School of Law of Centurion University has organised a seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Legal Studies and Practices’ on its Bhubaneswar campus.

The event brought together legal scholars, practitioners, and students to explore the evolving landscape of law in the digital era.

The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Supriya Pattanayak, Vice- Chancellor, Centurion University, Odisha. He underscored the necessity of evolution of legal education while keeping a pace with technological advancements and socio-economic shifts.

The seminar was graced by Bijay Kumar Patnaik, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, and legal luminaries who shared their insights on contemporary legal challenges.

The event was enriched by the virtual messages of Justice M.S. Raman, Judge, High Court of Orissa, and Prof. Kamal Jeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Madhusudan Law University.

The valedictory session was graced by Prithviraj Harichandan, Law Minister, Government of Odisha, alongside Bibhu Prasad Tripathy, Senior Advocate, High Court of Orissa. Their collective insights and expertise provided a robust foundation for discussions on emerging legal trends and challenges.

Prithviraj Harichandan commended Centurion University for its proactive role in legal education. “Legal education must evolve to address emerging challenges in technology, governance, and human rights. Institutions like Centurion University are shaping the next generation of legal professionals by fostering critical thinking and research-driven learning,” he said.

Dr. Pallab Das, Dean, School of Law, Centurion University, emphasised the significance of addressing pressing legal issues such as cyber law, AI in legal practice, alternative dispute resolution, and environmental litigation.

Technical sessions featured expert-led discussions on topics such as Judiciary 2.0, data privacy regulations, and corporate social responsibility, fostering dynamic exchanges of ideas.

Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Kusal Biswas, founder of Speak for Animals, for his relentless legal activism against animal cruelty.

With nearly 200 participants, including law students and professionals, the seminar offered a vibrant platform for legal discourse and academic collaboration.
