New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said that the Class XII board exams will be held but in a short format. The board also said that the state boards may take a call on their own whether to conduct the board exams or not.
However, the CBSE is yet to finalise the Class XII board exam dates and the modes of exam. The Centre is keen on holding CBSE 12th board exams. The format of the same is still being decided. States have been asked to take their own decision based on the local conditions, according to NDTV.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Government said that it was not in favour of conducting the board examination amidst the pandemic.
“Without vaccination making children appear for board examination will be a big mistake,” Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said in the high-level meeting called to discuss the board exams 2021.
“Conducting Class 12 board exams before vaccinating students will prove to be big mistake,” Sisodia said.
Echoing Sisodia’s views, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwadwe said that providing the safe environment for students is our priority. “We will tell the Supreme Court that last year was unfortunate for students,” she said.
Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren also welcomed the options of conducting the class XII board examinations, but suggested that a deep consideration is required before fixing the dates for the examinations.
Soren was speaking at the national webinar held to decide on class XII board exams and entrance examination for professional courses. The meeting was conducted by the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pohkhriyal and chaired by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
