Close To 6000 Teaching Positions In KVs Lying Vacant: Centre
New Delhi: The Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country are facing a shortage of close to 6000 teachers, the highest among all educational institutes in the country.
The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) on Thursday informed the Parliament that while 8,124 teaching posts have been filled up in the KVs, the vacancy position still remains close to 6000.
In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Minister of HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said temporary recruitment is being carried out keeping in mind the shortage, even as a massive recruitment drive is underway to fill up the vacant positions.
He said that in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, the vacant positions as of November 15 stands at more than 3000.
Recently, the KV administration had communicated to the Karnataka government its inability to teach Kannada in 50 schools in the State due to teacher shortage. Some other states as well have flagged the issue, requesting the management to address the issue on a war-footing for adhering to set-quality parameters.
