Kolkata: With the offline classes set to resume on November 16, colleges and universities have begun searching for hospital partners and set up isolation and quarantine facilities well ahead of the resumption. Several colleges are expected to convene administrative meetings to take a call on this among a host of other issues.
West Bengal, in its reopening SOP, has ordered the higher educational institutes to make arrangements for isolation and quarantine facilities and advised them to tie up with government hospitals or approved separate premises for those requiring emergency attention.
“We have made a tie-up with the nearest hospital. After reopening, they plan to organise an on-campus awareness camp.” Mandal said, “We also need to plan for hostel accommodation and classroom seating arrangements. Hopefully, next week everything will be finalised,” Scottish Church College principal, Madhumanjari Mandal was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
City-based Surendranath College also made similar arrangements. “We are having a tie-up with the Calcutta Medical College. We are ready to have an isolation room and have an on-campus staff quarters that can be used as a quarantine zone,” Surendranath College principal, Indranil Kar said.
The prestigious Jadavpur University has tied up with KPC Medical College. “We have a tie-up with KPC Medical College. Other things will be set up very soon.” A stakeholders’ meeting may be held next week at JU,” varsity registrar Snehamanju Basu said.
