Coronavirus Scare: List Of Examinations Postponed

New Delhi: The deadly coronavirus infection has forced all educational institutions and recruitment commissions across the country to cancel various examinations as a precautionary measure to stop spread of the virus.

Here’s a list of examinations that have been called off because of COVID-19 scare:

Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT)

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kanpur and Delhi have cancelled the examinations and suspended classes till March 29 and March 31 respectively.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Exam

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has postponed the constable recruitment exam for the border guarding force. The exam was scheduled for March 22 and nearly 50,000 candidates were going to appear for the exam to be held across 11 cities in the country.

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Exam

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has called off the Assistant Engineer recruitment exam in the wake of the deadly virus. The commission released a notification on its official website to inform the candidates about the same. The new exam dates have not been announced yet. The exam was scheduled to be held on March 21, 22, 28 and 29.

Indian Army Recruitment Rallies

The Indian Army has deferred all recruitment rallies by a month.  The army personnel have been instructed to travel only in case of an emergency.

Delhi Higher Judicial Services Main Exam 2019

The Delhi Higher Judicial Services Main Exam 2019 has been postponed to contain the spread of the virus. The Delhi High Court had released a notification regarding the cancellation of the exam on its website on March 13.The exam was slated to be held on March 14 and March 15.

Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) Exam

The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has postponed the following exams:

  • Dictation tests for Reporter Grade (2)
  • Malayalam and Confidential Assistant Grade (2)
  • The OMR test of Police Constable (IRB) scheduled in March 2020

The commission has also called off the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for the recruitment of Forest Driver, Civil Excise Officer (NCA-SCCC in Ernakulam district), Female Constable and Female Constable (NCA community).

Jammu and Kashmir Police Recruitment Exam

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have postponed the J&K Constable Physical Endurance Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) for recruitment of 02 Border Battalions. A notification about the cancellation of the recruitment exam was posted on its official website.

Haryana Staff Selection Commission Exams

The Haryana Staff Selection Commission has cancelled the Upper Divisional Clerk (UDC), Assistant Lineman and instructor recruitment exams. The exam was scheduled for March 18.

Maharashtra Public Service Commission Exams

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope announced on Twitter that the Maharashtra Public Service Commission has been directed to postpone the exams till March 31.

MAH MCA CET 2020 Exam

The MAH MCA CET 2020 exam, slated to be held on March 28, has been scheduled for April 30. The Maharashtra government informed the candidates about the cancellation of the exams on the official website of State Common Entrance Cell.

AMU Admission Tests

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has postponed the admission tests for students seeking admission in Class VI and XI. The exam was slated to be held on March 22 and March 29.

Prof Shafey Kidwai, AMU spokesman told PTI, “About a dozen members of the AMU community including senior faculty members and students, who returned to the country during the past two weeks, have been advised to remain in isolation for the next two weeks.”

Exams In Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has cancelled all the exams and has directed all educational institutions across the state to remain closed till April 2.

Schools and colleges have been closed and various examinations have been called off because of the novel coronavirus that has infected over 140 people in India.
