COVID Lockdown: CBSE Plans To Revise Syllabus For Classes IX To XII

New dates: With students across the country losing academic time because of the COVID-19 lockdown, the Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to revise the syllabus for Classes IX to XII to compensate for the loss.

Late on Friday night, CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma said, “NCERT has come out with revised activities calendar for Classes I to VIII. CBSE is assessing the situation and loss of time to rationalise syllabus for Classes IX to XII and will inform in due course of time.”

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Thursday released the new academic calendar of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for classes I to XII, the Indian Express reported.

The new academic calendar provides guidelines to teachers for imparting education using various technological and social media tools to encourage learners to study even when at home, said the minister.

The calendar also guides teachers to guide parents and students through SMS or phone calls where the learners don’t have an internet connection at home.

With the number of corona positive cases surging in the country day by day, India has entered the second phase of lockdown till May 3, 2020.
