New Delhi: The Delhi Government is not thinking of reopening schools for other classes after they reopened after 10 months for only Classes X and XII on Monday, January 18.
According to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the government will allow other classes to reopen only after proper vaccination. “We are not thinking about reopening the schools until a sufficient number of people are vaccinated,” Mr Sisodia, who also holds the Education portfolio, was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Delhi government’s decision to reopen classes for Xth and XIIth standard students was aimed at preparing them for the upcoming CBSE board exams. Students visiting schools though must have written consent from parents and attendance won’t be mandatory.
Sisodia informed that nursery admissions will not be cancelled. “Though admissions for Nursery classes have been delayed, we are not cancelling the admission process,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, students of Class X and XII were given a rousing welcome on Monday, with all COVID safety protocols put in place.
Sisodia took to Twitter to wish students. “Best wishes to the students of class 10&12th who are going to visit their school today after 10 months… (though it’s only for limited purpose and with covid protocols..) But still… I am glad that schools are opening in Delhi today,” Sisodia wished the students on Twitter.
