Delhi Schools Cannot Hike Fees During Lockdown: Manish Sisodia

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister on Friday slammed the schools, who had sent the fee hike circular to the parents.

Sisodia, who is handling Delhi’s education ministry as well, said such moves will not be allowed during the lockdown.

“It has come to my notice that many schools are taking fees arbitrarily and charging transportation fees even when schools are closed. Private schools should not stoop to this level. Be it private or government schools, they cannot hike fees,” Sisodia was quoted news agency ANI as saying.

However, the schools will be allowed to charge only tuition fees to pay salaries to their staff members during the lockdown.

With many parents witnessing a salary cut and even job loss during the lockdown, they have been demanding that the private schools use their reserve fund to pay salaries.
