Delhi University: Admissions Under Second Cut-Off List Begin Slowly
New Delhi: The admissions for Delhi University colleges began slowly under the second cut-off list on Monday. A total of 2,602 students completed the formalities. The number is much lesser than day one of the first cut-off list, besides several withdrawals.
The admission of 2,580 students was approved by 8pm. A total 61 colleges received 9,785 applications.
As many as 235 withdrawals were witnessed by Sri Aurobindo College along with 285 new admissions. “We had excessive admissions under the first list for the unreserved category, so we had closed many courses. For now, it doesn’t seem they will open, but we have to wait till admissions get over under the second list,” Vipin Kumar, principal of the college, was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
Some combinations of BA (programme), political science (H), English (H), Bcom and Bcom (H) were closed in the second list.
Ramanujan College saw the maximum withdrawals in mathematics (H). “One of the campus colleges reduced the cutoff for the subject, so we had around 80 withdrawals,” Principal SP Agarwal was quoted by the national daily. Out of 300 admission applications, 100 were approved by the evening.
