New Delhi: After Afghan students shared their woes during a virtual meeting with the varsity officials, Delhi University Acting Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi assured them of all help.
Days after the Taliban captured Afghanistan, the officials from Dean Students’ Welfare and Foreign Students Registry had a meeting with Afghan students.
About 200 Afghan students are currently studying in the university in different undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Several of them have returned home since the classes are being held online and during the semester break. Thursday’s meeting was attended by around 48 students.
“The Afghan students shared their worries and woes about the current situation in their country. The university authorities patiently listened to their problems which included visa extension, ICCR scholarship, hostel accommodation, financial problems, etc,” a statement from the DU said.
Joshi assured the students that the varsity will extend all possible help and assistance to them and the DU stands in solidarity with its Afghan students, the statement added.
