Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan To Launch 100-Day Reading Campaign Tomorrow

New Delhi: Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch a 100-day reading campaign ‘Padhe Bharat’ on January 1, 2022.

Children from pre-primary Balvatika to class VIII will be part of this campaign.

The campaign has been devised to improve learning levels of students and develop creativity, critical thinking, vocabulary and the ability to express both verbally and in writing. It will also help children to relate to their surroundings and real life situations.

Padhe Bharat seeks participation of all stakeholders — children, teachers, parents, community, educational administrators, etc — at national and state level.

The campaign, which will run for 14 weeks till April 10, has been designed with one activity per week, the focus being on making reading enjoyable and build lifelong association with the joy of reading.

The activities can be done by children with the help of teachers, parents, peers, siblings or other family members.

A comprehensive guideline on reading campaign with age-appropriate weekly calendar of activities has been prepared and shared with states and Union territories.
