New Delhi: Following the recommendation of the expert panel, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) accepted on Monday that the passage in one set of Class X English paper was not in accordance with the board’s guidelines regarding the setting of question papers.
The board said that it has decided to drop the passage and its accompanying questions and that full marks will be awarded to all the students for the questions.
To ensure uniformity and parity, the CBSE said that it will award full marks to students for passage number 1 for all sets of the question paper of class X English language and literature, reported Hindustan Times.
The decision comes a day after issuing a statement following the complaints raised against one of the English passages where women are shown in regressive light.
The matter reached the political arena when Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to Twitter to raise an objection to the question paper. The CBSE class X English paper was conducted on December 11.
In 2021, the board is conducting annual exams for classes X and XII in two separate terms in OMR mode.
